A “yield spread premium” (YSP) is the money or rebate paid to a mortgage broker for giving a borrower a higher interest rate on a loan in exchange for lower up front costs, generally paid in Origination Fees, Broker Fees or Discount Points.

Please retract your Nov. 5, 2007 issue brief titled Bans on Yield-Spread Premiums and Steering: Protecting Homeowners and Strengthening the Mortgage Market. I am asking for your retraction because its definition of yield spread is false. Your request for a ban on yield spread lacks substance due its use of a false definition.
